Based on the above tables, answer the following 9 questions showing your full work, formulas and calculations:
Q-1: Find the GDP per capita for each country in 2012 and 2013 and comment on your results (40-50 words)? Round your answers to the nearest dollar.(10 points)
Note: GDP per capita is gross domestic product in current US$ divided by total population. It shows the share of each individual from the total GDP. This is an important economic indicator which reflects the level of economic welfare.
Q-2: Based on your final answer in Q-1; calculate the mean, median, range, interquartile range of the GDP per capita in 2013? . (10 points)
Note: Show your full work and the formulas. Round your final answers to 2 .d.p
Q-3: Based on your final answer in Q-1; calculate the standard deviation of the GDP per capita in 2013? Comment on your answer based on your understanding for the concept of standard deviation? (40-50 words) (10 points)
Note: Show all steps and round numbers to 2 .d.p. at each step.
Q-4: In a separate table; Find the percentage of each population group (population aged 0-14; 15-64 and 65 and above) from the total population of each country in 2012? Comment on your results regarding the cross-country differences in age distribution? (40-50 words). (10 points)
Note: Round your final answers (to 2 d.p.) as ex. 0.23499 = 0.23 or 23%
Q-5: consist of three parts:
Q-5-A: In a separate table; Round all age groups and the total population in 2012 to three significant figures for each country. (5 points)
Q-5-B: In a separate table; Round the GDP in current US$ in 2012 to the nearest billion for each country. (2 points)
Q-5-c: In a separate table; Round the total labour force in 2012 and 2013 to the nearest thousand for each country. (3 points)
Q-6: consists of two parts:
Q-6-A: In a separate table find the yearly growth rate of total population between 2012 and 2013 for all eight countries? Comment on your answers (40-50 words)?
(5 points). Round your final answers to 2 s.f
Q-6-B: In a separate table find the yearly growth rate of GDP current US$ between 2012 and 2013 for all eight countries? Comment on your answers (40-50 words)?
(5 points). Round your final answers to 2 s.f.
Note: which countries had the highest population growth rates and which of them had the highest GDP growth rates (economic growth rates).
Q-7: consists of two parts:
Q-7-A: in a separate table calculate the approximate ratio (1: whole number) of population group (aged 0-14) to the total population in 2012 for all eight countries? Comment on your results; which countries have the highest child ratio. (40-50 words).
( 5 points). Show your full work and round your final answers to 1 s.f.
Q-7-B: in a separate table calculate the approximate total dependency ratio (number: number) for each country in 2013? Comment on your answer? (40-50 words).
(5 points) Show your full work and round your answer to 1 d.p.
(Example: 13: 28 which equal to 1:2.1538 approximately 1: 2.2 then 10:22 final answer 5:11)
Note: total dependency ratio is a measure showing the number of dependents (aged 0-14 and over the age of 65) to the population group (aged 15-64). This indicator gives insight into the amount of people of non-working age compared to the number of those of working age.
Q-8: Use Microsoft Excel in presenting the GDP per capita in 2013 (use answer Q-1) in bar chart for all eight countries. (10 points)
Note: your chart should be well titled; refer to unit eleven in Book D
Q-9: Use Microsoft Excel in presenting the total population for the eight Arab states in one pie chart? (10 points)
Note: your chart should be well titled; refer to unit eleven in Book D
A total of 90 out of 100 points are allocated to the above 9 questions. The remaining 10 points will be distributed to:
- Presentation and PT3 form (5 marks)
- Word count (5 marks).
Cut-off date: April 27th, 2015.
